Invited talk presented at Shakemap-EU Annual Meeting, Milano, Italy on 2025-06-05
Abstract: ShakeMap-EU is an initiative proposed to provide an integrated archive of ShakeMaps at the European level built on EPOS Seismology services & data products and modern community software. It serves as a backup to authoritative ShakeMap implementations. For Belgium, Shakemap is not yet implemented in real-time, but efforts are ongoing to investigate which Ground Motion Prediction Equations, Intensity Prediction Equation and settings need to be used to provide reliable real-time Shakemaps for Belgium. This presentation presents first the Belgian Macroseismic Database and the "Did You Feel the Earthquake (DYFI)" procedure used in Belgium. Afterwards, DYFI are implemented in Shakemaps to demonstrate how the modelled ground motion changes with respect to Shakemaps created from using instrumental data alone. The Shakemaps presented are currently only experimental.
