Abstract: We present the highest-resolution-ever observations of small scale EUV brightenings in the quiet Sun (QS), “campfires”, by the Extreme Ultraviolet Imager (EUI) onboard Solar Orbiter (SolO). We use two QS coronal observations, taken by the High Resolution Imager (HRI) in the 17.4 nm passband, at the perihelia of SolO during October 2022 and October 2023. The observations have the finest EUV pixel resolution ever of 105 km/pixel and a fast cadence of 3 seconds. We detect the smallest Campfires ever observed with the spatial extents and lifetimes that reach the resolution limit of the instrument.
