Abstract: We present time-resolved high-resolution and low-resolution spectroscopic observations of SZ Lyn. The star is a high-amplitude δ Scuti-type pulsating star in a binary system. The photometric observations reveal the existence of radial and non-radial oscillation modes in SZ Lyn. The follow-up spectroscopic observations consist of 561 low-resolution (R≈1000) spectra obtained at Mount Abu observatory, India and 16 high-resolution (R=85000) spectra obtained by HERMES at Mercator Telescope, Spain. The star has a dominant radial mode at the frequency 8.296943 d −1. The low-resolution spectroscopic analysis focused on the variation of the equivalent width of the Balmer lines, Hα, Hβ, and Hγ and Mg(I) triplet over the entire pulsation cycle and hence determines the temperature profile of SZ Lyn. The superficial analysis of the line profiles of the high-resolution spectroscopy complies with the appropriateness of applying spectroscopic mode identification methods to determine non-radial modes which were confirmed in photometric analysis. Furthermore, the stellar parameters were determined through the best-fit analysis of observed and synthetic high-resolution spectral lines.
