With EUI we aim to improve our understanding of the structure and dynamics of the solar atmosphere, globally as well as at high resolution, and from high solar latitude perspectives. The EUI consists of three telescopes, the Full Sun Imager (FSI) and two High Resolution Imagers (HRIs), which are optimised to image in Lyman-a and EUV (174 \AA, 304 \AA) to provide a coverage from chromosphere up to corona. The EUI instrument design will be reviewed, and its scientific objectives and plans will be discussed. Early results of the EUI commissioning will be presented.
