000005463 520__ $$aThe Extreme Ultraviolet Imager (EUI) was launched aboard the Solar Orbiter mission of ESA in February 2020. It consists of three telescopes: the Full Sun Imager (FSI) with two passbands (at 174 Å and 304 Å), and two High-Resolution Imagers (HRIs) operating in the 174 Å and 1216 Å passbands. In this presentation, the first results obtained by EUI will be reviewed. A particular attention will be paid to the so-called campfires, small-scale extreme-ultraviolet brightenings observed by EUI/HRI_174 in the quiet Sun regions. Campfires have coronal temperatures and are rooted in magnetic flux concentrations of the chromospheric network. They represent a new element of the previously unresolved fine structure of the transition region and low corona.
