000004705 520__ $$aThe Large Sky Area Multi-Object Fibre Spectroscopic Telescope (LAMOST) is a unique instrument located at the Xinglong observatory (China) that combines a large aperture (4-m telescope) with a wide field of view (a circular region with a diameter of 5 degrees on the sky) that is covered with 4000 optical fibres. It is the ideal tool to obtain low/medium-resolution spectra (R~1800/7500) for a large number of objects in an efficient way. The LAMOST-Kepler project was initiated in 2009 with the main aim to gather LAMOST spectra for as many objects as possible in the field-of-view of the Kepler space mission to allow a homogeneous spectroscopic determination of the basic stellar parameters of the observed stars. In this review talk, the past, present and future activities within the LAMOST-Kepler consortium will be discussed in which the importance of the LAMOST-Kepler observations will be highlighted. What could be the role of the observations obtained within the LAMOST-Kepler project in the future?
