Abstract: A prototype of a phased array of 8 elements is being built at the Humain Radio Astronomy Station by the Solar Influences Data Analysis Center (Royal Observatory of Belgium). The main goal of this instrument is monitoring the solar activity in the band of 20–80 MHz using Software Defined Radio receivers and employing digital beam–forming techniques in order to track the Sun and reject possible radio frequency interference sources. We will present the current status of the construction of SPADE (Small Phased Array Demonstrator), whose first light is expected before the end of 2017.
