Virtual machines and data processing in the Solar Orbiter EUI Data Centre

Kraaikamp, Emil

Seminar presented at ROB on 2016-06-17

Abstract: Solar Orbiter is an ESA mission to explore the Sun and surrounding space using a variety of in-situ and remote sensing instruments. One of the remote sensing instruments is the Extreme Ultraviolet Imager, that will image both the full Sun, using the full sun imager (FSI) telescope, and with two high resolution imager (HRI) telescopes. The main tasks of the EUI data center (hosted at ROB) are to command the EUI telescopes and to perform data processing, both for science data as well as for low latency data. In this talk I will describe the virtual machines that are used to automatically process low latency data arriving daily from the EUI instrument. These virtual machines will be running both at ROB and at ESAC (Madrid).
