Abstract: We discuss how to improve the rectification of echelle spectra, based on tests done with a stable, fiber-fed spectrograph. Minor differences in the light path induce changes of the blaze function. However, these changes are almost independent of the spectral order when expressed in the proper coordinate. Additionally, we show how to avoid signatures of bad columns, insofar they are due to changes in the light path.
