Abstract: We present a detailed statistical analysis of the orbital elements of a new self-consistent catalogue of visual double stars. We have tried to identify the several observational biases present in the sample but did not yet correct for them. Using a mass-luminosity relation, we compute the distribution of the mass ratio and of the masses of the components.
